Check out the hypothesis about Hyde and Jekyll! Dear ,
Hello? It's Brayle here, once again with a pen in hand. |

April is usually a warm and gentle month. But over the weekend, I was surprised by sudden strong winds, cold weather, and even hail! The unpredictable weather left me so flustered that I ended up losing my wallet… I really hope I find it. I just want the calm, warm spring weather to return soon… 😭 |

[Notice] MazM Q&A answers are now available! |
, the answers to the 2025 1st MazM Q&A have been posted on Discord. I'll share a few of them here! |
Q. What was the reason behind making Enfield a bit creepy in the game “Hyde and Seek”?
A. Enfield used to be a bit of a rude idler, but through ongoing interactions with Utterson, he gradually became more gentlemanly. Since Hyde and Seek takes place two years before Jekyll and Hyde, we can say Enfield has matured quite a bit since then.🙂 |
Q. How much sleep does MazM's Franz even get?
A. According to real historical records, Franz Kafka used to nap for around 4 hours during the day and then stay up most of the night writing or sleeping just a little. MazM’s Franz skips the daytime nap entirely, so we estimate he sleeps about 3–4 hours per day on average. |
Q. Is there any possiblity that a new game will be made that has the same system as Jekyll and Hyde/The Phantom of the Opera/Pechka?
A. We might be able to try that someday. Right now, though, it’s difficult for us to create a map-based game due to team size and scheduling constraints. |
Q. What does it mean when Daroga mentioned that Erik preferred lilies and lotuses over roses?
A. This means that Erik’s true nature was originally one of purity. The lily symbolizes “purity,” and the lotus means “a pure heart.” In contrast, the rose represents “beauty,” especially “outer beauty.”🌼 |

📆 Next Week’s MazM Anniversary! |
🎂 April 19 is the birthday of Jammes, the cute and cool revolutionary from The Phantom of the Opera! Jammes is the first MazM character to break the fourth wall and the only one who can communicate with cats. Did you know she was almost given the trait of “wanting to ride a bicycle”? But... that idea was dropped because animating a bike scene would have been too much! 🚴 |

[💏Romeo and Juliet] Who dares challenge Tybalt, the fierce King of Cats? 😼 |
MazM’s upcoming game, Romeo and Juliet, tells the story of love that blooms amid the conflict between two rival families. Of course, we all know that Romeo and Juliet love each other, but do their families love the other family? Not so much. In fact, they absolutely despise each other and consider one another mortal enemies! |
This is a work-in-progress version and may differ from the finished one.
You may have already seen Tybalt's image on social media, . Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, is a skilled swordsman with immense pride in his abilities. He’s never lost a duel and is even nicknamed the “King of Cats.” 😼 (Juliet absolutely hates that nickname. Jammes, reading this letter next to me, screamed “No to monarchy restoration!” and ran away.)
But Tybalt’s sword is always pointed at the Montagues, the enemy of his family—even though he hasn’t had any personal grudge against them. “Down with Montague” might as well be his life motto. 🤺
At least within the Capulet household, Tybalt is seen as a passionate and cheerful person. He deeply cares for Juliet, his aunt and uncle, and the Capulet servants. And no one thinks Tybalt would ever lose in a duel!
Did you know, ? MazM found Tybalt to be such an interesting character that they chose to emphasize his relationships with those around him—both family and enemies—more than in the original story. Especially the way Juliet and Tybalt bicker—it almost feels like they’re real siblings! (Of course, they’re cousins, but if you think of the siblings in Kafka's Metamorphosis and The Black Cat: Usher's legacy...🔥) We hope you look forward to seeing what’s similar and different between Tybalt in the original play and Tybalt in MazM!😺 |

[MazM if] Jekyll & NO Hyde?!🤯MazMians’ answers are finally revealed! |
Though he enjoys pleasure and is prone to temptation, he holds himself to a strict moral code. For a long time, he struggled to suppress his impulses. This very struggle led to his fascination with morality... and ultimately to his experiment: the creation of a second self, Hyde.🧪 But... something happened during Dr. Jekyll's childhood. As a result, he no longer cared much about good and evil... and Hyde was never born. What could have happened to the doctor? What kind of life must he have lived to become so different from the Jekyll we know?
Thanks to all the amazing theories and guesses from MazMians, Mr. Hyde was able to safely appear in today’s letter! , shall we take a look at some of the theories Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde picked out? 💌 |
There were other ideas too—like "What if he'd just lived more freely?", "What if he'd accepted help from friends from the beginning?", "What if he hadn’t been interested in good, evil, and human nature?", "What if he'd been able to explore himself from a young age?", or "What if he’d pursued the arts instead of earning a doctorate?" Since Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are ultimately one person, some said, just as Stevenson originally wrote, they can never truly be separated. 📕 |
Mr. Hyde's birth might have been a tragedy for Dr. Jekyll, but for MazMians, it could be called a comedy! , let’s cheer on Dr. Jekyll’s scientific experiments and Mr. Hyde’s... mischief(?) together! 😏 |

👀 Special MazM Letter Sneak Peek |

1️⃣ Kafka’s Metamorphosis: The Raven, Kafka, and the Executioner 2️⃣ The Black Cat: The Witch and the Black Cat 3️⃣The Phantom of the Opera: The Paris Commune and the People of the Theatre |
Unless they were nobles like Raoul or people hiding in the theatre like Erik, most of the surviving citizens must have witnessed their loved ones being horribly killed or injured. Even so, I dare to imagine that they did not regret standing up against the government without surrendering in fear—but perhaps even felt proud of it. Just like how the French take great pride in their first revolution. It’s hard to imagine that people with such memories—especially the youth... |

"I’m gonna graduate senior high tomorrow! I was held back a year and was supposed to be a college student by now—so finally! But still, I just wanted to share the news because MazMians are my secret haven, ahaha. I’m a little shy to say that, but maybe I’m becoming bold thanks to being anonymous TvT. Still, I really love MazMians and felt the need to share this moment! I hope everyone finds the strength—and the people—they can turn to when faced with challenges, even if it's just while being anonymous."

"Hi MazMians! Did you know that there's a website dedicated to preserving all of the written works in the public domain (in most, if not all languages) as an online library? It's called Project Gutenberg (gutenberg.org), and it's my main source for reading the "classic" books when I don't really want to request them from the public library. Hope you take a look!"

🤍🐬🤍 : Wow, thank you for sharing such a great site! There are so many works I didn't know about—it's really fascinating. I definitely want to share this with the MazM team too! 😀 |
