Hello? It's Brayle here, once again with a pen in hand. |

Lately, I’ve been having a rough time with allergy symptoms… I’m allergic to raw shrimp, and I think I may have eaten something that had come into contact with it—without even realizing. It got bad enough that I had to visit the ER in the middle of the night… It’s been tough. Do you have any allergies too, ? 😥

[Notice] Announcement: Romeo and Juliet Language + Release Guide |
, Romeo and Juliet: Trial of Love is aiming for a release on June 25th! Romeo and Juliet: Trial of Love will be available in the following languages.☟
, do you remember the short-term MazM roadmap we shared two weeks ago? Many MazMians sent us all kinds of questions about it. I’ve picked out a few of them so we can go over the answers together!
Q1. What is included in the update for Jekyll and Hyde? |
Jekyll and Hyde will be added to the MazM Membership. Once the update is complete, you’ll be able to enjoy the game more conveniently. |
Q2. Why was Hamlet chosen as the next project? |
MazM had long considered Shakespeare’s plays—including Hamlet—as candidates for future titles. Among those, Hamlet received the most votes. |
Q3. Will all future games be made in vertical view? |
MazM says they can’t give a definite answer just yet. While the current game system is optimized for mobile vertical screens, future games will choose the screen orientation that best fits the systems added later. |
Q4. Isn’t there any plan to make Wuthering Heights into a game? |
If you take a look at the image above, you’ll see that Wuthering Heights is indeed listed as one of the major candidates for upcoming titles. Keep it in mind! |
Q5. I’d love to see MazM return to the older map-exploration style of gameplay. |
MazM is currently considering the introduction of an adventure system with map interaction in a positive light. |
MazM is currently aiming to release one game every 4 to 6 months. This is all to bring you, our MazMians, more chances to experience a wide variety of literary works through games—so I hope you’ll continue cheering us on!

📆 Next Week’s MazM Anniversary! |
🎂 June 14 is the birthday of Philippe de Chagny (Count Chagny), a character from The Phantom of the Opera!
Count Chagny often finds himself torn between his family's honor and his deep affection for his younger brother—he has a lot on his mind because of him. For someone like him, a quiet afternoon coffee shared with a few cats might just be the perfect way to unwind. ☕ |
[MazM if] What if Raoul and Count Chagny were only three years apart...? |
, Raoul and Philippe are actually twenty years apart. After losing their parents, Philippe never married—he had to take care not only of their younger sisters and the house, but also of Raoul, who was practically a child to him. But what if, just what if… Philippe had been only three years older than Raoul? What would their relationship have been like then?
Usually, siblings are two to five years apart, aren’t they? So if Raoul and Philippe were that close in age, what might have changed? Would the story of The Phantom of the Opera unfold differently? Could someone’s life be saved—or would someone end up leaving for a distant place? 🤔 |

👀 Special MazM Letter Sneak Peek |
1️⃣💀 Hamlet: Not the Prince of Denmark. 2️⃣💀 Hamlet: Introduction — A Man in Anguish |
To get straight to the point—we chose not to follow the original time and setting of Hamlet when adapting it into a game. Shakespeare’s original play takes place in Elsinore Castle, Denmark. The exact period isn’t stated, but it is generally assumed to be during the reign of Elizabeth I (1558–1603). Interestingly, Elizabeth I died without an heir, which mirrors the ending of Hamlet in some ways.
In comparison, Romeo & Juliet is thought to be set in the 1590s, based on the timeline in which Shakespeare wrote the play. (MazM chose the year 1595 as the setting, reflecting the estimated date of the script's creation.) Wait—that overlaps with the Elizabethan era, which means Hamlet and Romeo & Juliet share not only a literary lineage but also a temporal backdrop.
Of course, Denmark and Italy are very different culturally and environmentally. But from a development perspective, designing characters in early modern European clothing for two consecutive titles wasn’t creatively motivating for our team. What’s more, several character archetypes appear in both stories, which posed a risk: if we weren’t careful, Hamlet might have ended up feeling like a derivative of our previous work.
Be the first to get the latest updates on the upcoming Hamlet—only in the special MazM Letter! |
