MazM plans to release The Black Cat: Usher’s Legacy within January. With the Lunar New Year holiday falling in the last week of the month, we aim to launch it before then. The exact release date will be announced in a separate email! It hasn’t been too long since Kafka’s Metamorphosis, has it? MazM is aiming to release new titles every four months moving forward. That means you will be able to enjoy three new MazM games each year!😃 |

Hello, MazMians. This time, we're reaching out with a story inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s work, The Black Cat and The fall of the House of Usher. During the creation of Kafka’s Metamorphosis, we faced numerous challenges and moments of doubt, many of which seem to have found resolution in The Black Cat: Usher’s Legacy. If you enjoy mysteries, thrillers, or tales of tangled relationships, this story will surely captivate you.
Reading Poe’s chilling short stories, we could faintly grasp the “fear of death” he sought to escape throughout his life. However, Poe was more than a master of horror. He also crafted beautiful poetry, satirical tales that still evoke chuckles in the 21st century, and adventure stories that invited readers into mysterious worlds. For this project, we chose not to focus solely on “fear” or “death” but instead explored “the terror that threatens to destroy one’s life and the quest to uncover its cause.”
I once came across this phrase: Behind every dreadful present lies a past. This sentiment resonates with personal lives as much as it does with the history of an era. In a world where the past is often erased and truth is obscured, I wanted to tell this story in some way.
We hope you’ll enjoy this tragic tale of twin siblings ensnared by the horrifying fate imposed upon them by their family.

January 19th is the birthday of Mr. Dupin, a surprise supporting character from The Black Cat: Usher's Legacy. While the game hasn’t been released yet, Dupin wanted to meet you all, so we’re sharing his birthday in advance! Interestingly, MazM reimagined Dupin as a “character” who bears a resemblance to Edgar Allan Poe, the original creator, while incorporating distinct traits. If you look closely, elements like his green glasses, pipe, and worn attire are more characteristic of Dupin than Poe himself! |

January 22nd marks the birthday of Daejin Park, the remarkable figure from Pechka! Her birthday was inspired by the date of the tragic event "Bloody Sunday" during the 1905 Russian Revolution. Daejin experienced similar turmoil when escaping her hometown, witnessing a nation oppressing its own people. Perhaps this is why she became someone who fights for a better country!👊 |
