April 5 is Arbor Day in Korea, a day to plant trees! I remember actually planting trees in the mountains or fields when I was young. Recently, we had a major wildfire here… Thankfully, it was put out safely, but spring always calls for caution. This Arbor Day, I think I’ll join a tree-planting volunteer event!🌳 |

When I was a child, I read My Sweet Orange Tree by José Mauro de Vasconcelos, and I always wanted to ride a tree like a horse. I remember playing on a small tree near my house that was just my size! Strictly speaking, I wasn’t really riding it—I would just stand with the tree between my legs like I was riding it.

Let’s take a quick look at the relationship between Pyotr and Misha. At the beginning of Part 2 in Pechka, we see baby Misha in the arms of Eunok Lee, Pyotr’s mother. They are brothers with about a twenty-year age gap.
Surprised? Originally, the plan was to have Misha appear as a child already in Part 2! If that had happened, the age gap between the brothers would have been around 8 to 10 years.
