Story about MazM's historical research on contents Dear ,
Hello? It's Brayle here, once again with a pen in hand. |

Happy lunar new year! ๐ February 10th is the start of the new year ('Seolnal' in Korean) according to the lunar calendar. Since this week has the Lunar New Year holiday, I plan on spending the holiday with my family! So, I need to quickly finish writing my letter to you and other things and prepare for my trip! ๐ I have to drive quite a long way to see my family. ๐
, do you know how to avoid boredom when riding in a car for a long time? Especially on congested roads!
Well, now I have to tell you the story I prepared today...! |
How to Create a Creation with Perfect Historical Research is... |
Most MazM games are set in real times and countries. I heard that they did a lot of research to not only tell the story,
but also show the era well!
So... is MazM's goal to replicate that era in real life? ๐ฎ
MazM's Answer
No.
Perfect historical research and implementation that are โjust likeโ the real thing is not the direction we pursue.
We are not professional researchers, and rather than making a documentary,
we want to make a game with a fun story. ๐ฎ
Of course, there is a desire for historical research to enhance the user experience, but we think that trying to achieve a 'perfect result that is identical to the real thing' may miss out on character and interesting stories.
However, historical evidence and data cannot be ignored.๐ We refer to historical and cultural materials and
consider what parts to include in the game. Also, We discuss how similar the game world is to the real world. In the end, we think what is important in MazM's game is โlooking real,โ
not โbeing like the real thing.โ
In a word, when it comes to historical research on MazM games, we think it is most important to give people the perception that โwhat that era felt likeโ through the game and to allow them to immerse themselves in the situation. The idea is to set up the worldview of the game and fill in the culture and styles that might exist in that worldview. When creating a world here, we should refer to what actually exists.
One thing we would like to say to those who dream of becoming creators is that they need to study hard about things related to the content they want to create, such as history and culture.
That way, you will be able to judge well what to put in and what to take out.๐
It wasn't just a matter of researching data! ๐ณ |
Now that I think about it, I've gained a lot of information through the 'Miscellaneous Dictionary' in the game...
And even a Vladivostok resident who played 'Pechka' once said,
'My neighborhood is similar to the one in the game.' ๐ |
What is MazM working on in โMetamorphosisโ? |
'Metamorphosis' is said to be a work that
introduces the writer Franz Kafka and his early works!
However, I heard that it does not depict Kafka's actual life exactly.
Since his real life is not a โstoryโ, expressing everything as it actually happened would be too long or would not function as a โstoryโ.
Instead, it is said that MazM takes material from Kafka's works and life and create stories based on it. ๐งพ
People who don't know about Kafka's life can think,
'Kafka lived this kind of life'.
For those who knew about Kafka's life, it would be fun to find out which parts were actually taken from Kafka's life and which parts were paid homage to in the work! ๐
(For reference, 'Pechka', which was made as MazM's first original story while maintaining actual historical events, is said to have taken a very long time to structure the story... 'Metamorphosis' aims to be made even faster than this.) |
Currently, the production team is studying Kafka
by reading his writings to get to know him better.
They are reading not only the 1912 work,
which is the background of the game,
but also later works and letters written in his later years. ๐
Ideas about Franz Kafka as a writer and a person may differ from person to person, even from MazMian reading this letter.
Through the game โMetamorphosisโ MazM is producing this time,
MazM would like to show you what MazM thinks about Franz Kafka and the world of his works, so we ask for your interest and support!! ๐ค |

Martin's Concept Art Sharing Time |
Martin came by today again to show you concept art of 'Metamorphosis'! We'll see more advanced art in the game, but let's see what Martin was thinking. |
โI wanted to depict Kafka feeling relaxed through meal time with his friends. However, I later found out that Kafka was a vegetarian who did not eat meat. Besides, he often skips meals..." |
By the way, I heard that MazM is checking the results of the character concept design survey one by one and discussing which ones to reflect! , When the character portrait is completed, I will send it to you in a letter as well! |
"As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect."
This is the first sentence of the novel โMetamorphosisโ!
It's very powerful and unforgettable.
, if the first scene of 'Metamorphosis' happened to you...
what would you do?
And what will your family do?!?!
, tell me your version of 'Metamorphosis'! |
, If you share your ideas, I'll make sure to share them with other MazMians in the next letter.
Thank you again today!
Have a wonderful day! ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ
Warm Regards, Brayle๐ค๐ฌ๐ค

P.S. : 3rd Mystery : "Is Mollie really a cat?"
Mollie herself left a statement on this. Let me quote you! |
โHumans, what is the definition of a cat? Isnโt a cat something that meows, walks on all fours, and sleeps twenty hours a day? Then I guess I can say I FIT the definition of a cat. I donโt know why this is such a mystery. .And yet among the characters of HnS, no one has actually seen me spaeking human language. Please know that too." |
It seems like the mystery has gotten bigger, but I'll move on! |

"Yes, as a woman and writer myself I would really love to meet Mary Shelly. I'd like to have some of her strength, it was difficult to be a woman and get respect for her own thoughts, I'd like to have that intelligence and pride. "
by 'Lumina Nix'
"So, I would really like to meet Gaston Leroux, not only because I just love the phantom of the opera, but also because his writing style and mystery books are just unique! (Also I would love it if in your next works you contain a book by Edgar Allan Poe) Wishing you well!"
