🐈⬛ Meet the Usher twins, the main characters of The Black Cat!♊ |

Last week, we revealed the new title for The Black Cat: Usher's Legacy (henceforth The Black Cat). This time, let’s introduce two key characters in the story! And, as it happens, they’re fraternal twins. Roderick and Madeline Usher are inspired by characters from Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, "The Fall of the House of Usher".

🎸 Roderick Usher, the story’s protagonist, is the twin brother and current head of the Usher family. In the original story, Roderick is portrayed as unstable, sensitive, and deeply drawn to the arts. MazM has woven various narratives with original characteristics to enrich his character. What fate awaits Roderick in The Black Cat? Spoiler: he goes through quite a lot… |
😾 Madeline Usher, the story’s other protagonist, is Roderick’s twin sister. While we learn very little about Madeline in the original story, MazM has reimagined her as a unique character based on hints drawn from Roderick and her elusive presence. As the character holding the key to The Black Cat’s story, Madeline will bring both chills and sympathy to you, ! |

.🎂 November 18 marks the birthday of Felice Bauer, a character from "Kafka's Metamorphosis" and a real historical figure. I imagine she would celebrate with family and friends, perhaps enjoying an opereta performance for her birthday. |
🎂 November 22 is the day Franz Kafka’s "The Metamorphosis" was first written, so MazM celebrates it as the birthday of Gregor Samsa, the story’s protagonist. FYI, “Franz’s Imagination” is a character distinct from Gregor, though—perhaps sharing Franz’s birthday instead! |

It’s a cute and lovely poem that compares spring to a cat.
